I hope you’ve had a good week! I have! With Bob out of town, it’s been just the girls here at home. That means we stay up too late, we eat at weird hours, and we miss him like crazy! For some reason, I’ve gotten soooo much done. (Not really sure how it happened, but grateful all the same!)
Here are a few updates!
Paint Color Decision (We think!)
In the epic showdown of the white paint, Sand Dollar appears to have beaten Alabaster by a narrow margin. (My kids: “They are literally the same.”😂) The victory was so narrow; we’re asking the painters to paint the family room and then give us a few days to make sure we like it before painting the rest of the house! (In our defense, we’re going from 15 years of “Straw,” so it’s a big change.) 🙄
My Bargain Purchase
Yep! I’m feeling super-proud because I found the Apple Watch Series 3 for just $169! (Retailing everywhere else for $199.99.) Our daughter wants one for her upcoming birthday, and we aren’t about to splurge for the new Apple Watch Series 6!
Of course, being her mother’s daughter, she wanted one with a pink band, but those aren’t out there anymore! The only color options for bands now are white or black. Who cares! At that price, I sent her right to my post on fun Apple Watch bands and told her I’d throw in the band of her choice! (BTW, in that post, I also explain the feature differences between the Series 6 watch and the Series 3 watch. You can read it HERE.)
Did You Catch Father of the Bride 3(ish)?
If you’re a fan of Father of the Bride and Father of the Bride 2, you’re probably over the moon! A week ago, Father of the Bride 3(ish) was premiered exclusively on YouTube. It takes place 25 years after the end of part 2, and you will love it! The event was a fundraiser for World Central Kitchen, and I still haven’t gotten over how much fun it was! (To see writer and director Nancy Meyers talk more about it, click HERE.)
Get Your Mammo Yet?
I got my annual mammogram this week, and I celebrated by partnering up once again this year with my friends at Easy Spirit to raise money for breast cancer research! Every year, Easy Spirit joins with FFANY (Fashion Footwear Association of New York) Shoes On Sale to support breast cancer research. 🎗 Twenty percent of the proceeds from the sale of these adorable shoes directly benefit early detection, treatment, and the search for a cure.
Easy Spirit designed the limited edition MOVE FOR PINK shoe collection based on their best-selling Romy Walking Shoe (pictured above) and their Traveltime Clogs. I just got my MOVE FOR PINK Traveltime Clogs in the mail (#gifted), so watch for a post on my Instagram & Facebook pages next week featuring those!
Oh, and if you haven’t gotten your annual mammogram yet this year, GO!🎗
MORE New Sneaks
Soooo, there’s something that happened this summer that I haven’t shared with you. (I mean, I don’t tell you everything, even though it probably seems that way!)
I got a stress fracture in my foot. 🦶 This is why you didn’t see me in heels or wedges much this summer. (As if! You probably didn’t even notice!😂) I wore a boot some, and the doctor recommended flat-soled shoes that didn’t have much pliability. (I lived in THESE.) I’m a lot better, but if you’ve ever had a stress fracture, you know that it takes about 6-9 months to heal completely.
The last time I went to the doctor to check on my progress, he recommended I switch over to a good quality running shoe (I’m not a runner, but he said running shoes are the best-constructed shoes out there for good foot health.) When I asked him for a specific brand, he told me about THESE shoes that he recommends to all of his patients with general foot pain.
Fast forward to Tuesday, when I went to my local RunOn store. I figured those people knew all about stress fractures, and I wanted to see if their shoe recommendations lined up with my doctors. Guess what? They not only told me about the same shoe, but they also told me it was the nationwide best-seller for their entire chain! What even???!!!
I bought a pair (the black & blush, of course!), and after wearing them around the house for a mere three hours, 😂 I got online and ordered a second pair! (Since I work at home, I have an inside and an outside pair of sneakers that I typically wear daily.)
The moral of the story? If you’re having foot pain, look into THESE sneakers. (They come in regular and wide widths.)

Instagram This Week
I’ve been posting a lot of exclusive content to my page in the LiketoKnow.it shopping app, so if you’re not following me there, you might want to do that. (Click HERE for a direct link.) I know some of you don’t want another app to deal with, or it just doesn’t make sense to you. I get that! Know that you can always shop the same looks on THIS page of the Empty Nest Blessed website. I also try to run them down for you every weekend in my What’s Up, Weekend post. 😀
If you read my 2020 Fall Fashion Trends post, you know that sweater dresses are big for fall! I love this one because it’s cute belted or unbelted, and short enough to work with my faux leather leggings when it gets cold. (If you want it longer, hang it and stretch it when it’s wet!)
It’s not clingy like most of the sweater dresses out there, which is another bonus! You can pair it with sneakers, booties, and even under-the-knee or over-the-knee boots, making it super versatile. And did I mention it’s soft? #yummy
I love finding items with lots of color and pattern options for you to choose from based on your preference! This dress is one of those, and I love the fact that it has two pockets and a pleated skirt. #welovepockets The quality is good for the money! This peplum jacket hits at a figure-flattering waist length and also comes in three shades of blue denim.
Your flat-chested friend, Suzy, wears an XS, and since this pumpkin tee doesn’t come in XS, I ordered it in a small and knotted it at the front to give a little more shape! 😂 (Know that you can always do that if you have a larger tee that you want to look more fitted—especially now when the twist-front/tie-front trend is so hot!)
This drape front knit camo blazer is so on-trend for this fall, when everyone wants to get out of their loungewear and look pulled together, but still be comfy! (Remember how I told you allllll about that in my Fall & Winter Fashion Trends post?) I paired mine with black Ponte knit straight leg jeans. (Again, with the comfort!) They’re really just dress pant yoga pants! (Seriously! That’s what the brand calls them! 😂)
On my feet, I’m wearing the cutest pair of ruffle trim black booties! They’re exceptional, and the ruffle makes them stand out in the crowded sea of black booties everywhere! They also come in caramel brown and taupe.
ENB Best-Sellers of the Week
Keeping an eye on what y’all are buying helps me know what to share with you! Thanks so much for shopping with my links! Here’s what you loved this week:
- These ah-mazing $25 cardigans at Target. (Depending on how you like your fit, I’d order a size down. I did.)
- These Cheetah-print Joggers. (Super cute!)
- The Sweater Dress I featured above went crazy when I shared it on my Instagram!
- This inexpensive twist front tunic top. So many color options! Such a flattering fit!
- My favorite mascara! It will hold up the whole day without flaking! 👍 (Although one reader told me it was too thick for her and left her with racoon eyes! 🦝 Oh, dear!)
- These darling snakeprint bow mules.
Have a great weekend, sweet friends!
